Comparison
Upstack vs Triple Whale
Triple Whale is a reporting and AI platform that added server-side enrichment on top. Upstack is a tracking and identity platform with reporting included. Both give you dashboards — the difference is which one owns the data underneath them, and what happens to your bill as you grow.

Common questions
Upstack vs Triple Whale, answered.
Does Triple Whale do server-side tracking?
Yes. Their Sonar Optimize layer sends events to Meta server-side via the Conversions API, and reports on match quality and deduplication. An earlier version of this page said otherwise and was wrong. The distinction we would actually draw is architectural: Sonar is enrichment layered onto a reporting platform, where Upstack is built at the collection layer and everything else reads from it.
Does Triple Whale do multi-touch attribution?
Yes — eight models, including two of their own, with lookback windows from one day to lifetime. It is included from their $219 Foundation plan. We offer four models. On breadth of attribution modelling they are ahead of us.
Then what is the actual difference?
Where the data comes from and what your bill is indexed to. Triple Whale reports on the events its pixel and Sonar can gather; Upstack resolves identity at collection and forwards a complete customer to the platforms, then reports on the same resolved events. And they price on your revenue while we price on your orders.
How does the pricing actually compare?
Triple Whale prices on annual GMV. At $1–2.5M GMV, Foundation is $549/mo and Automate is $1,349. At $15–20M it is $2,529 and $4,199. Upstack charges per order — $149, $249 or $449 by band — so a higher average order value does not raise your bill.
Can I run both?
Yes, and some brands do: Upstack for collection and forwarding, Triple Whale for its reporting and AI layer. If you want that, we will help you set it up rather than talk you out of it.
What does Upstack not do that Triple Whale does?
Marketing mix modelling, incrementality testing and an agentic AI layer. We have no equivalent of Moby. If those are what you are buying, they are the better fit and we would tell you so on a call.
How long does switching take?
Under 20 minutes of your time. Install the app, connect your platforms, and we configure the Conversions API, identity resolution and attribution for you.
