7 Blotout Alternatives for Shopify (2026): EdgeTag Replacements Without DNS Records or Annual Contracts

The best Blotout alternative depends on what you want to change. To pay by orders instead of events, with no DNS records, look at Upstack Signal, Littledata or Elevar. For Klaviyo-heavy brands, Aimerce. To run server-side tracking yourself at the lowest cost, Stape. If you only advertise on Meta and Google, Shopify's free apps may be enough.

This guide is about Blotout the tracking company and its EdgeTag product; our Blotout review covers what it does and what customers say. We checked every price, plan, trial and feature claim below on each vendor's own site or Shopify App Store listing on October 24, 2026. Upstack Signal is our product and sits in this list with its limitations stated as plainly as everyone else's. If Blotout still fits after reading this, we say when.

Why do people look for Blotout alternatives?

Blotout EdgeTag has 4.7 stars from 26 reviews on the Shopify App Store, and reviewers single out its support team, so this isn't a list of complaints about its data. The reasons that come up are structural:

  • The bill follows traffic, not sales. Blotout prices by billable events and sizes its plans as pageviews multiplied by channels: 100,000 events is about 20,000 pageviews sent to four channels, per its pricing page. Add a destination or publish more content and the event count rises, even if orders don't.
  • DNS records are part of setup. EdgeTag's first-party setup issues a TXT record and a CNAME record for your DNS provider, per its getting-started guide. Two of the four low-rated App Store reviews describe a setup that couldn't be finished, one on a Hydrogen store that couldn't get past the DNS step.
  • Annual terms above the entry plan. Starter is monthly, pay as you go. Growth and Professional are annual commitments invoiced monthly, with a 30-day trial and an opt-out in the first 60 days.
  • Onboarding and some features start on Growth. Starter is self-serve: the onboarding call, setup validation and the guided switch from a test pixel to your main one start on Growth at $400 a month. Shopify abandoned cart recovery isn't available on Starter and costs $300 to $600 on Growth and Professional.
  • Two price lists. The Shopify App Store lists a Basic plan at $49.99 a month and a Maintenance plan at $249.99, billed every 30 days, beside the plans on blotout.io.

On price, Blotout's ecommerce plans are Starter at $60 a month for 100,000 events, Growth at $400 for 3 million and Professional at $800 for 8 million, with Enterprise quoted. Overage is $1 per 5,000 events on Starter and $100 per million on Growth and Professional. For every plan, add-on and worked cost by order volume, see our Blotout pricing guide.

How we compared these tools

Each tool was checked on the same questions: whether setup needs DNS records or a Google Tag Manager container; what you pay for and the lowest published price; which destinations it sends to; whether it recognizes returning visitors beyond a single session; whether you can try it first, and on what terms; and who should skip it. Everything comes from vendor pricing pages, product pages, help docs and Shopify App Store listings, checked October 24, 2026. Where a vendor publishes no trial we say so. We left out third-party review-site ratings because we didn't check them. For why server-side tracking matters in the first place, see our server-side tracking guide.

Blotout alternatives that install as a Shopify app

These five install from the Shopify App Store, send events server-side and need no DNS records. They differ in what they charge for and what they do with identity.

1. Upstack Signal: server-side tracking with identity resolution, priced per order

Upstack is our product, so read this section knowing that.

Our take. Signal does EdgeTag's core job for a Shopify store: complete server-side events to Meta, Google, TikTok, Klaviyo and the other channels you run. The differences are the billing unit and the setup. Signal is priced per order, so adding a destination costs nothing, and it installs from the Shopify app with no DNS records. Before an event leaves, each visitor is resolved against our identity graph of 750M+ devices and 150M+ customers. It doesn't match Blotout on compliance: there's no HIPAA plan, no BAA, no single-tenant hosting and no self-hosting.

Skip it if you need HIPAA, a BAA or single-tenant hosting. Our Upstack vs Blotout comparison covers the trade-offs line by line.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Shopify and DTC brands that want first-party server-side tracking and identity resolution without DNS work or an annual contract.
How it works
Upstack Signal collects events first-party and sends them server-side to destinations including Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, Klaviyo and Attentive. Visitors are resolved using deterministic and probabilistic matching, and an Upstack ID persists for the life of the customer, so a returning shopper on a new device can still be recognized. Setup takes under 20 minutes, with no Google Tag Manager container.
Pricing (October 2026)
Per order and month to month: $149 a month to 1,000 orders, $249 to 3,000, $399 to 10,000, $699 to 15,000, $1,199 to 30,000 and $1,599 to 50,000, then quoted. Overage runs from $0.10 down to $0.05 an order. 21-day free trial and a 60-day 4x ROI guarantee. Every band is on our pricing page.
Strengths
No DNS records, every supported destination on every band, identity resolution included, and no annual term.
Limitations
No free plan. Fewer destinations than Blotout's 55+, with no Amplitude or Mixpanel destination. Built for Shopify and DTC brands, not lead generation, Magento or Salesforce Commerce Cloud. For a small store sending to several channels, Blotout's Starter can cost less.

2. Littledata: every destination on every plan, priced per order

Our take. Littledata is the simplest swap for a store that wants server-side tracking without DNS work or Google Tag Manager. All 9 of its destinations come with every plan, so adding Klaviyo or TikTok doesn't change the price. Flex has no monthly minimum, but at $0.35 an order it costs more than Scale once you pass about 570 orders a month.

Skip it if you need HIPAA or a destination outside its nine. See our Upstack vs Littledata comparison.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Shopify brands whose main destinations are GA4, Meta, Google Ads and Klaviyo.
How it works
A Shopify app that sets up server-side tracking without GTM or a developer, in about 10 minutes per Littledata's site. Destinations are GA4, Meta, Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Pinterest, TikTok, Klaviyo, Attentive and Recharge, plus Segment from Scale. Scale also adds Session Enrichment with a Persistent ID that works for up to a year on the same device.
Pricing (October 2026)
Per its Shopify App Store listing, Flex is $0.35 per order with no monthly minimum. Scale is $199 a month with 1,500 orders included, then $0.15 an order to 3,000 and $0.06 above. Plus is $990 a month, or $9,504 a year, with 10,000 orders included, then $0.03 an order. Littledata's plans page shows 20% off annually: Scale at $159 a month and Plus at $792. Every plan has a 30-day free trial.
Strengths
No DNS records, no GTM, all destinations on every plan, a 30-day trial, and 4.8 stars from 147 App Store reviews.
Limitations
Persistent ID and headless support start at Scale. Flex gets expensive fast: 2,000 orders a month is $700 on Flex against $274 on Scale. Its Persistent ID is tied to one device.

3. Elevar: a Shopify data layer, with or without Google Tag Manager

Our take. Elevar is the closest match to Blotout's breadth among the Shopify apps, with 50+ destinations in its catalog, but it caps destinations by plan. Base and Core send to 2 advertising or analytics destinations and can't add more, so Klaviyo starts on Advanced at $650 a month. Elevar now sells under the Audiense brand, and Google Tag Manager is optional.

Skip it if you're a small store that needs Klaviyo. Our Blotout vs Elevar comparison runs the two side by side, and our Elevar pricing guide has every plan.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Shopify teams that want a mature data layer to build on, or many destinations on one plan.
How it works
Elevar captures store events in a data layer and routes them server-side from its own Google Cloud infrastructure, with no self-hosting option. Its docs describe a GTM setup and a GTM-less setup. Session Enrichment sets a 1-year server-set cookie and links emails and phones from signups, logins and checkouts.
Pricing (October 2026)
Per the Audiense Online pricing page and its Shopify App Store listing, billed every 30 days: Base is free for 100 orders, then $0.75 an order; Core $225 a month for 2,000 orders; Advanced $650 for 10,000; Premium $1,250 for 30,000; Elite from $3,000 for 75,000. Destinations are capped at 2 on Base and Core, 4 on Advanced, 10 on Premium and 25 on Elite, with extras at $125 a month each from Advanced up. Paid plans have a 15-day free trial, and expert installation is $1,000.
Strengths
A free plan to 100 orders, monthly billing, no DNS records, and 4.8 stars from 170 App Store reviews.
Limitations
Klaviyo and other email destinations need Advanced. Its identity is a one-year cookie on the same browser, where Blotout describes a lifetime graph. No HIPAA plan on its pricing page.

Source: Audiense Online pricing page, checked October 2026.

4. Aimerce: built around Klaviyo and returning visitors

Our take. Aimerce is the pick for brands whose Blotout setup was mainly feeding Klaviyo. Its Durable Pixel, cross-device tracking and Klaviyo Revenue Amplifier are on every plan. It starts at $299 a month for 1,000 orders, the highest entry price among the per-order apps here, but Growth covers 10,000 orders for $499.

Skip it if klaviyo isn't central to your revenue. See our Upstack vs Aimerce comparison.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Shopify brands that want more browse and cart abandonment events reaching Klaviyo, plus Meta and Google server-side.
How it works
Per its pricing page, every plan includes the Aimerce Durable Pixel, one-click server-side tracking, first-party data enrichment, cross-device tracking, a Meta Conversions API enhancer, Google Enhanced Conversions and click-ID relinking for express checkouts, with TikTok, Pinterest and Snapchat among its other integrations. Growth adds headless support, attribution reporting and custom events.
Pricing (October 2026)
Billed monthly, Essential is $299 a month for 1,000 orders plus $0.10 per extra order, Growth $499 for 10,000 plus $0.05, and Enterprise $1,799 for 50,000 plus $0.03. Annual billing saves 20%. Cancel anytime, with a 30-day free trial and a money-back guarantee.
Strengths
A strong Klaviyo focus, cross-device tracking on every plan, and a long trial.
Limitations
You pay $299 even below 1,000 orders, and at 3,000 orders Essential costs $499, the same as Growth. Its revenue-lift claims are its own.

5. WeTracked: low-cost tracking for small and multi-store sellers

Our take. WeTracked is the cheapest paid app here: $49 a month for 500 orders across up to 3 stores. It's built for ad platforms rather than email, and it uses what it calls a digital fingerprint to stitch sessions. Its published plans stop at 7,500 orders a month, with Enterprise quoted above that.

Skip it if you're above 7,500 orders a month and want a published price. See our Upstack vs WeTracked comparison.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Small and multi-store sellers on Shopify or WooCommerce running Meta, Google and TikTok ads.
How it works
Per its pricing page, every plan includes first-party tracking and enrichment, real-time forwarding to all its supported ad channels, its Pulse dashboard and unlimited ad pixels per store. WeTracked says its digital fingerprint is GDPR compliant.
Pricing (October 2026)
Billed monthly, Starter is $49 a month for 500 orders and 3 stores, Business $149 for 3,000 orders and 5 stores, and Scale-up $249 for 7,500 orders and 10 stores. Enterprise is quoted above 7,500 orders. Annual billing saves 20%. Every plan has a 14-day free trial and a 60-day money-back guarantee if your ROAS doesn't rise 20%.
Strengths
The lowest paid entry price, several stores on every plan, and 24/7 live chat.
Limitations
Built for ad platforms, not email or analytics destinations. It markets a cookieless fingerprint, so check that fits your consent setup. Its accuracy claims are its own.

If you'd rather run the server side yourself

6. Stape: server-side Google Tag Manager hosting, priced by requests

Our take. Stape isn't a like-for-like EdgeTag replacement. It hosts server-side Google Tag Manager containers, and you or an agency build the tags. If you have that skill in-house, it's the cheapest way to run server-side tracking at volume. If you don't, the savings go to whoever sets it up.

Skip it if nobody on your team works in GTM. See our Upstack vs Stape comparison and our Stape vs Elevar comparison.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Teams with GTM skills that want server-side tracking on infrastructure they control.
How it works
You run a server GTM container on Stape's hosting and send events from it to your destinations. Stape's free Shopify app, Stape Conversion Tracking, adds the GTM snippet, data layer events and order webhooks, and has 4.3 stars from 42 reviews on its App Store listing. Click ID Restorer is on every plan; Cookie Keeper, which extends cookie life, starts on Pro.
Pricing (October 2026)
Per its pricing page, the Free plan covers 10,000 requests a month. Pro is $20 a month billed monthly, or $17 billed annually, for 500,000 requests. Business is $100 ($83 annually) for 5 million and Enterprise $200 ($167) for 20 million, with custom plans above that. A request is every hit to the container, including script loads, and each site needs its own container.
Strengths
The lowest running cost at volume, no per-order or per-destination fee, and a free plan to test with.
Limitations
You build and maintain every tag. Requests aren't orders, so estimating the bill means counting page views and events, much like Blotout.

The free option

7. Shopify's Meta and Google apps: the free starting point

Our take. Before paying for anything, check what Shopify's own channels already do. At the Enhanced or Maximum data-sharing level, the Facebook & Instagram channel sends purchases to Meta server to server through the Conversions API. The Google & YouTube app is free to install and connects Google Ads and Google Analytics. Each covers one platform, and Meta's server-side event is the purchase only.

Skip it if you advertise beyond Meta and Google, or need events other than purchases sent server-side.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Stores that advertise only on Meta and Google and want server-side purchases at no cost.
How it works
In the Facebook & Instagram channel you choose a customer data-sharing level. Standard uses the Meta pixel only, which a browser ad blocker can stop. Enhanced and Maximum add the Conversions API, which sends the purchase event between Shopify's and Meta's servers with the customer's name, location, email and phone for matching, per Shopify's guide to Meta data sharing.
Pricing (October 2026)
Free. The Google & YouTube app is free to install, built by Google LLC, with 4.5 stars from 5,552 reviews.
Strengths
No cost, and built by the platforms themselves.
Limitations
One platform per app, and nothing for TikTok, Pinterest or Klaviyo. Meta's server-side event is the purchase; other events rely on the pixel.

When to stay on Blotout

Blotout is still the better fit if:

  • You need HIPAA. Blotout sells HIPAA plans from $1,600 a month, offers a HIPAA Compliance plug-in that strips health details from tracking fields, and says it can sign a Business Associate Agreement. Of the tools above, Upstack doesn't offer a BAA; ask any other vendor in writing before you switch.
  • You need single-tenant or self-hosted infrastructure. EdgeTag runs a dedicated database, processing, endpoints and storage per brand, managed or self-hosted, per its EdgeTag page.
  • You send to many kinds of destination. EdgeTag lists 55+ integrations, including Segment, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Northbeam, Triple Whale, Rockerbox, Taboola and Criteo, on every plan.
  • You run more than one platform. Its pricing FAQ lists no-code installs for Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento and WordPress, and it sells lead generation plans from $60 a month.
  • You're a small store with several channels. By Blotout's own sizing, a store with about 20,000 pageviews a month can send to four channels inside Starter's 100,000 events for $60 a month, and Starter is month to month.

If that's you, the switching cost isn't worth it. Check that your plan still matches your event volume, and stay.

How to switch from Blotout

  1. List what EdgeTag sends today. Note each destination, the events it sends and any rewritten events, such as a separate conversion for new customers or for margin, so you can rebuild them in the new tool.
  2. Test the new tool on a secondary pixel. Install it and send its events to a test pixel or a secondary conversion first, then check them in each platform's test tools, such as Test Events in Meta Events Manager.
  3. Move one destination at a time. Meta deduplicates a browser event and a server event only when both carry the same event name and event ID. Two tools sending the same purchase server-side, each with its own ID, are counted twice. Connect the new tool's Meta destination and turn off EdgeTag's in the same session, then repeat for Google, Klaviyo and the rest.
  4. Check Shopify's own Meta channel. If the Facebook & Instagram channel is set to Enhanced or Maximum data sharing, it also sends purchases through the Conversions API. Decide which tool owns server-side purchases.
  5. Remove EdgeTag. Uninstall the Shopify app, remove EdgeTag's code from any headless or custom storefront, and check Settings > Customer events in Shopify for leftovers. Once nothing is sending to the EdgeTag subdomain, delete its TXT and CNAME records at your DNS provider.
  6. Check your contract. Starter is monthly. Growth and Professional are annual commitments with an opt-out in the first 60 days, so plan the switch around that window or your renewal date.
  7. Compare for two weeks. Match Shopify orders against purchases reported in Meta and Google Ads, and watch Event Match Quality in Events Manager. Our guide to Meta event duplication on Shopify lists the checks.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Blotout alternative for Shopify?

It depends on why you're leaving. To stop paying by events and skip DNS work, Upstack Signal, Littledata and Elevar are priced by orders and install as Shopify apps. For Klaviyo-heavy brands, Aimerce. To run server-side GTM yourself, Stape. If you only advertise on Meta and Google, start with Shopify's free apps.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Blotout?

It depends on your size. For a small store, Blotout's Starter is hard to beat: at 1,000 orders a month sent to four channels, we estimate about $140 a month, against $149 for Upstack Signal, $149 for WeTracked Business and $199 for Littledata Scale. At 10,000 orders, we estimate about $600 a month on Growth, billed on an annual commitment, against $399 for Upstack Signal, $499 for Aimerce Growth and $650 for Elevar Advanced. Shopify's Meta and Google apps are free, and Stape's hosting starts at $20 a month plus the cost of building your tags. Our Blotout pricing guide shows how we estimated Blotout's event counts.

What are Blotout's main competitors?

For Shopify brands, the tools most often compared with Blotout are Upstack Signal, Elevar, Littledata, Stape, Aimerce and WeTracked, plus Shopify's own Meta integration. Blotout also competes for health, lead generation and enterprise customers, where its HIPAA plans, self-hosting and wider platform support set it apart.

Is EdgeTag the same as Blotout?

Blotout is the company and EdgeTag is its server-side tracking product. The Shopify app is listed as Blotout EdgeTag, and its documentation is at docs.edgetag.io. Looking for EdgeTag alternatives is the same search as this one.

Which Blotout alternatives don't need DNS changes?

Upstack Signal, Littledata, Elevar, Aimerce and WeTracked all install as Shopify apps without the TXT and CNAME records EdgeTag's first-party setup uses. Shopify's Meta and Google apps don't need them either.

Does any Blotout alternative offer HIPAA?

Blotout sells dedicated HIPAA plans from $1,600 a month and says it can sign a BAA. Upstack doesn't offer a BAA. For the other tools here, ask each vendor in writing before moving health data.

Can I cancel Blotout?

Starter is monthly, pay as you go. Growth and Professional are annual commitments invoiced monthly, with a 30-day trial and an opt-out in the first 60 days. The plans on the Shopify App Store are billed every 30 days.
