Northbeam vs Rockerbox (2026): Attribution, MMM, Testing and Offline Media Compared
Northbeam fits digital-first brands that spend heavily on paid social and search and want daily multi-touch attribution, verified view-through and a published starting price of $1,500. Rockerbox, owned by DoubleVerify, fits brands whose budget also reaches TV, streaming, podcasts and direct mail, and who want attribution, MMM and managed testing on one data foundation. Only Northbeam publishes a price.
For the wider field, see our comparison of 8 Northbeam alternatives. We checked both tools against their own pricing pages, help docs and Shopify App Store listings on October 24, 2026. Upstack is our product and appears only in the section on when neither tool fits.

How do Northbeam and Rockerbox collect data?
Northbeam runs a pixel that, per its pixel docs, must fire on every page, all the time. If it misses a visit, that data can't be recovered. On sites with a consent banner, the pixel sends nothing until the visitor agrees. Orders arrive through the Shopify connector, or an Orders API for other platforms, and setup includes a DNS A-record and Northbeam's required UTM parameters. Northbeam's attribution is built on digital ad touchpoints: clicks, plus views it can verify or model. For ad platforms it doesn't integrate with, its Spend API lets you upload spend, clicks and impressions yourself.
Rockerbox pairs a JavaScript pixel with a server-side Shopify API integration that pulls completed orders as a backup, per its Shopify docs. Its homepage says it tracks clicks and views across paid social, search, display and video, and offline channels including CTV, linear TV, direct mail and podcasts, with hard-to-track channels covered through promo codes and post-purchase surveys. All of it lands in one SOC 2-certified data foundation that its MTA, MMM and testing products share.
That's the core difference. Northbeam measures the digital journey in depth. Rockerbox measures a wider media plan and accepts coarser signals, like a promo code or a survey answer, for the channels a pixel can't see.
Attribution models and windows
Northbeam offers seven models, per its attribution model docs: First Touch, Last Touch and Last Non-Direct Touch, plus four multi-touch models. Linear splits credit evenly. Clicks-Only, Clicks + Modeled Views and Clicks + Deterministic Views are its own. The last one credits an ad view only when the ad platform verifies it, and Clicks + Modeled Views estimates views with machine learning.
Rockerbox offers four attribution types, per its help docs: first touch, last touch, even weight and a modeled multi-touch type built on your own data, which is the default view. Custom credit allocation lets you set channel credit beyond those four.
Windows work differently in each tool:
- Northbeam lets you choose a lookback of 90 days, 180 days (the default), one year or ten years, per its lookback docs. Changing it restates your history. Reports then show credit within 1, 3, 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days, or LTV, per its attribution window docs, and those windows only work in Accrual accounting mode.
- Rockerbox applies the longest window it can to each channel, per its attribution window docs: 150 days for clicks, 90 days for verified views on display and native, 14 days for linear TV, 7 for OTT and about 200 for direct mail. Meta, TikTok and Snapchat data from its direct partnerships uses 7-day click and 1-day view, and modeled view-through on Meta, YouTube and TikTok gets 1 day.
Northbeam gives you the dial. Rockerbox sets it for you, channel by channel. If your team argues about windows, Rockerbox's fixed rules end the argument. If you want to tune them to your sales cycle, Northbeam allows it. For how window length moves the numbers, see our guide to multi-touch attribution.
MMM and incrementality testing
Both sell the three measurement methods, on different terms:
- Northbeam lists MMM+ as optional on Enterprise only, the plan for brands spending more than $500K a month on ads. MMM+ adjusts forecasts and budget allocations daily rather than quarterly. Incrementality is optional on Professional and Enterprise. Neither add-on has a published price.
- Rockerbox offers MTA, MMM and incrementality testing on the same data foundation, and its plans page calls testing fully managed. Its homepage says test results can calibrate the MTA model and feed the MMM as priors, and that you can start with one method and add the others later.
If MMM is the reason you're comparing, Rockerbox sells it as a product you pick, with no plan tier attached on its site, while Northbeam lists MMM+ only on its top tier. For when each method earns its cost, see MTA vs MMM vs incrementality.
Sending results back to ad platforms
Both tools now pass their attribution to Meta for Custom Attribution, where Meta optimizes delivery against your model's credit instead of its own:
- Northbeam Apex sends Northbeam's attributed performance for each ad to Meta, per its Apex docs. Every customer can set up Apex data sharing; Meta's Custom Attribution layer is in beta, with broader rollout during 2026. Apex is also available on AppLovin, and Snap is in closed beta. Northbeam says Apex is additive: keep your existing pixel and Conversions API setup running.
- Rockerbox DV Relay for Meta shares event-level Meta attribution back to Meta to enable Custom Attribution, per its help docs. It needs a Meta dataset already receiving Purchase events. Rockerbox also sends conversions to Google Ads through its Google Ads Conversions API integration, for example to optimize Performance Max toward new-customer purchases.
Neither replaces a Conversions API setup that sends Meta the identifiers it matches on. Our Event Match Quality guide covers that layer.
Reporting and data exports
Northbeam is built around its dashboards: customizable omnichannel views across every ad channel, plus the Northbeam MCP for querying data from AI tools. Professional adds unlimited users, data exports and integrations. Enterprise adds granular touchpoint exports and geo-specific dashboards. Its export docs cover one-time CSV exports, scheduled exports, Google Cloud Storage and a Data Export API.
Rockerbox is built to feed your stack. Its homepage says it pushes analytics-ready data to BigQuery, Redshift and Snowflake, and its plans page adds Google Sheets and scheduled exports. Brands with analysts who build their own models tend to value that more than another dashboard.
Setup and onboarding
Northbeam puts Shopify brands at 2 to 4 weeks with light dev work and other platforms at 4 to 8, per its implementation guide. It wants at least three fully tracked days before validating your data, and delayed UTMs delay everything. Starter gets ticket support and documentation but no Customer Success Manager; Professional and Enterprise get one.
Rockerbox says testing can start in 1 to 2 weeks, while MTA or MMM takes 6 to 8 weeks depending on data readiness, and its plans page says most companies set up their data foundation within a few weeks. Onboarding and training are tailored to each customer.
Plan on a month or more with either tool before you trust it with budget decisions.
Northbeam vs Rockerbox pricing
| Northbeam | Rockerbox | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | Starter: $1,500, for brands spending less than $1.5M a year on ads | Not published |
| Mid | Professional: $3,500 a month, for up to $500K a month in ad spend | Not published |
| Top | Enterprise: custom, above $500K a month | Not published |
| Agency option | Growth: custom, through a Northbeam agency partner | Not published |
| What sets the price | Ad spend band, adjusted for pageviews | The mix of products you choose |
| Term | Starter month to month; Professional and Enterprise annual | Not published |
| Free trial | None listed; book a demo | None listed; book a demo |
Northbeam's pricing FAQ says the listed rates are starting points: your monthly price is informed by the pageviews your site generates. At list price, Starter costs at least $18,000 a year and Professional at least $42,000, before any add-on. Rockerbox's plans page asks you to select your mix of products, from data collection and export to MMM and testing, and book a demo. Our Northbeam pricing guide has the plan-by-plan detail.
Without a Rockerbox number, the fair comparison is to quote both with the same scope: the same channels, MMM on or off, and testing on or off.
What do reviewers say about each?
Neither tool has much public review data:
- Northbeam: 5.0 stars from 3 reviews on its Shopify App Store listing, all from 2023. On Trustpilot, an unclaimed profile shows 2.6 from 4 reviews, and Northbeam hasn't invited customers to review there.
- Rockerbox: 4.5 stars from 12 reviews on its Shopify App Store listing: 10 five-star, one two-star and one one-star. Most date from 2020. The newest, from July 2023, is a one-star review reporting that the app stopped recording sales and support was slow. Rockerbox has no Trustpilot reviews.
Fifteen app reviews across two enterprise tools can't settle anything. Ask each vendor for references at your spend level and channel mix, and read the docs linked above before the demo. Our Northbeam review covers what Northbeam's users say in more depth.

When neither is the right fit
Both tools assume a large media budget and a team with time to run a measurement program. Many Shopify brands looking at them want two simpler things: attribution they can trust day to day, and better conversion data reaching Meta and Google.
Upstack Data, our product, covers those two jobs. Upstack Attribution reports first-click, last-click and any-click attribution with margin reporting, and Upstack Signal sends events server-side to Meta, Google, TikTok and Klaviyo, matched against an identity graph of 750M+ devices and 150M+ customers. Pricing is per order and month to month: Attribution is $99 a month for up to 1,000 orders, and Attribution + Signal is $199, with a 21-day free trial. It doesn't do MMM, incrementality testing, view-through attribution, TV or offline media, so it's not a replacement for either tool at their core. Our Northbeam alternatives guide covers eight more options.
Frequently asked questions
Is Rockerbox better than Northbeam?
It depends on your media mix. Rockerbox is the stronger choice if TV, streaming, podcasts or direct mail are a real part of your budget, or if you want MMM sold as its own product rather than an Enterprise add-on. Northbeam is stronger for digital-first brands that want daily attribution, verified and modeled views, and a published starting price.
Which handles TV and offline better, Northbeam or Rockerbox?
Rockerbox. Its homepage lists CTV, linear TV, direct mail and podcasts among the channels it tracks, using promo codes and post-purchase surveys where a pixel can't reach, with set attribution windows for each. Northbeam's attribution is built on digital clicks and views; you can upload spend for unsupported channels through its Spend API.
Which is cheaper, Northbeam or Rockerbox?
There's no public answer, because Rockerbox doesn't publish prices. Northbeam Starter starts at $1,500 for brands spending under $1.5M a year on ads, and Professional at $3,500 a month on an annual term. Quote both with the same channels and methods to compare.
Does Rockerbox have MMM?
Yes. Rockerbox sells marketing mix modeling alongside multi-touch attribution and fully managed incrementality testing, all on one data foundation. Northbeam's MMM+ is an optional add-on on its Enterprise plan.
Who owns Rockerbox?
DoubleVerify, the ad verification company, which announced an agreement to acquire it in February 2025. Rockerbox's site now presents the pairing as media quality from DV and media performance from Rockerbox.
Can I switch from Rockerbox to Northbeam?
Yes, but plan for overlap. Northbeam needs its pixel on every page, its UTM parameters on your ads and at least three fully tracked days before it validates your data, and its implementation guide puts Shopify brands at 2 to 4 weeks. Run both side by side for a few weeks, compare each against your Shopify orders, and expect the numbers to differ, since their models and windows differ.
