9 Stape Alternatives Compared (2026): Server-Side GTM Hosting and Tracking Without GTM

The best Stape alternative depends on what you want to change. To keep server-side Google Tag Manager on different hosting, TAGGRS and Addingwell are the closest swaps, and Google Cloud Run is the do-it-yourself route. To stop maintaining a GTM container at all, Upstack Signal, Tracklution, Elevar and Littledata send server-side events without one. Analyzify keeps GTM but builds it for you.

We checked every price, plan, trial and feature claim for these Stape alternatives on each vendor's own site, docs or Shopify App Store listing on October 24, 2026. Upstack Signal is our product and sits in the second group, with its limitations listed as plainly as everyone else's. If Stape still fits after reading this, we say when.

Why do people look for Stape alternatives?

Stape is a good product at a low price, and most people who leave it aren't unhappy with the hosting. The reasons that come up:

  • Someone still has to build the container. Stape hosts a server-side Google Tag Manager container; you or an agency build every tag, trigger and variable. Without GTM skills on the team, the low hosting price comes with a build cost, either your time or Stape's setup service from $1,100.
  • Requests are hard to predict. Stape counts every incoming hit, including script loads like gtm.js, plus preview sessions and bots. One Shopify App Store reviewer in October 2026 said Stape counted about eight times as many requests as their GA4 events.
  • One plan per site. Each website needs its own container and plan, per Stape's pricing FAQ, which adds up for brands with several stores.
  • Data residency. Some EU teams want hosting from an EU-owned provider, which is the pitch for TAGGRS.
  • Wanting identity, not only events. Stape's Enricher power-up stitches user data across requests on Pro and above. Some brands want visitors resolved across devices and browsers before events reach the ad platforms, which is a different product.

For the full plan breakdown, see our Stape pricing guide. For how Stape works and what its reviewers say, see our Stape review.

How we compared these tools

Each tool was checked on the same questions: whether you maintain a Google Tag Manager container; what you pay for and the lowest published price; which platforms and destinations it covers; whether it does anything about identity beyond a single browser cookie; and whether you can try it for free. Prices are as published on October 24, 2026, with monthly and annual billing labeled. TAGGRS and Tracklution publish prices in euros, and we quote them that way.

Stape alternatives that keep server-side GTM

These four keep the server-side Google Tag Manager model. Your tags, triggers and templates can move with you.

1. TAGGRS: server-side GTM hosting on EU-owned infrastructure

Our take. TAGGRS is the closest like-for-like swap: server-side GTM hosting priced by requests, with a free plan and a Shopify app. Its difference is where it runs. TAGGRS hosts on UpCloud, a European provider, not on Google's cloud, and it holds ISO 27001 certification. Prices are in euros and sit a little above Stape's for the same volume.

Skip it if the container itself is the problem. Our TAGGRS vs Stape comparison goes through the two side by side.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
EU brands and agencies that want server-side GTM on European infrastructure.
How it works
You run a server GTM container on TAGGRS hosting with a custom subdomain. Every plan includes its Enhanced Tracking Script against ad blockers and ITP, Cookie Recovery, a PII anonymizer, data enrichment with bot detection, and request analytics, per its pricing page. It has apps for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop, Shopware and Lightspeed.
Pricing (October 2026)
Free covers 10,000 requests a month. Billed monthly, Basic is €25 for 750,000 requests, Pro €65 for 3M and Ultimate €145 for 10M. Billed annually the same plans are €22, €57 and €127 a month. Enterprise is quoted. Multi-domain tracking starts on Pro and a dedicated account manager on Ultimate.
Strengths
EU-owned hosting, ISO 27001, a free plan, and every core feature on every plan. Its pricing FAQ says it counts events such as page views, clicks and purchases as requests.
Limitations
You still build and maintain the GTM container. Each account is meant for one website. TAGGRS doesn't give refunds; its FAQ points you to the free plan to test first.

2. Addingwell: server-side GTM hosting with phone support

Our take. Addingwell, now part of Didomi, hosts server-side GTM with a more generous free tier than Stape's (100,000 requests) and human support by email, live chat and phone. Its paid plans start higher, at $110 a month for 2 million requests, so it suits brands with real traffic more than small stores.

Skip it if you run a small store under 500,000 requests a month, where Stape or TAGGRS cost less.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Brands with steady traffic that want server-side GTM hosting with responsive support.
How it works
A tagging server for your GTM server container, with a CDN for gtm.js, gtag.js and analytics.js, per its pricing page. Like Stape, it counts incoming requests to the container, including script downloads, and not the outgoing calls to each platform.
Pricing (October 2026)
Free up to 100,000 requests. Monthly plans are $110 for 2M requests (then $2.35 per extra 100,000), $230 for 10M ($1.90 per 100,000), $460 for 25M and up to $2,220 for 150M. Extra containers are $36 a month, extra domains $12 and extra regions $24. Overage is added to the invoice at the end of the billing cycle, and unused requests don't carry over.
Strengths
The largest free tier among the GTM hosts here, phone support, and add-ons that put several sites under one plan.
Limitations
The first paid plan costs more than Stape Pro. You still build and maintain the container.

Source: Addingwell pricing page, checked October 2026.

3. Google Cloud Run: host the container yourself

Our take. Google's own route is to run the server container on Cloud Run in your Google Cloud account. You pay Google directly and own every part of the setup, including the updates. It's the most control and the most work.

Skip it if nobody on your team works in Google Cloud.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Teams with Google Cloud skills that want no hosting middleman.
How it works
Tag Manager can provision a Cloud Run service for you, or you deploy it manually, then map a custom domain and point your server container at it, per Google's Cloud Run setup guide. You also run a separate preview server, and you redeploy when Google ships a new tagging server version.
Pricing (October 2026)
Google estimates about $45 a month per server, each a Cloud Run instance with 1 vCPU and 0.5 GB of memory. It recommends at least 2 instances to reduce the risk of data loss, so about $90 a month before the preview server and any multi-region setup. It expects 2 to 10 autoscaling servers to handle 35 to 350 requests per second.
Strengths
No vendor in between, Google's own documentation, and a cost that doesn't depend on request counts at moderate traffic.
Limitations
No power-ups like Stape's Cookie Keeper or Click ID Restorer, no Shopify app, and every update, alert and outage is yours. At low traffic it costs more than Stape, whose Pro plan is $20 a month for 500,000 requests; above that, two servers cost less than Stape Business. Our Stape vs Google Cloud comparison works through the numbers.

4. Analyzify: GTM set up and maintained for you

Our take. Analyzify keeps the GTM model but takes the building off your hands. It ships pre-built GTM containers for Shopify, includes professional implementation on yearly plans, and prices by order band. Its server-side option is managed GTM hosted on Stape or Google Cloud, so for some brands it's a way to keep Stape and stop maintaining it.

Skip it if you want to be rid of GTM entirely.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Shopify brands that want GTM in their stack without building it.
How it works
A unified pixel for 10+ platforms, server-side tracking, pre-built GTM containers, purchase attribution, and refund and COGS tracking, per its pricing page.
Pricing (October 2026)
Standard is $145 a month billed monthly, or $109 a month billed yearly ($1,305 a year), up to 5,000 orders. Standard rises to $175 a month billed monthly ($131 yearly) for up to 10,000 orders. Plus is $275 a month billed monthly, or $206 billed yearly ($2,475 a year), up to 50,000 orders. Implementation is free on yearly plans and $295 on monthly plans. Managed server-side GTM is a $1,490 add-on, with Stape's hosting from about $20 a month paid to Stape.
Strengths
A fixed price by order band, GTM containers you own, and the setup done for you.
Limitations
No traditional free trial, the lowest price needs a yearly plan, and server-side GTM costs extra.

Stape alternatives without a GTM container

These five send server-side events without a GTM container for you to build or maintain.

5. Upstack Signal: server-side tracking with identity resolution

Upstack is our product, so read this section knowing that.

Our take. Signal does the job most brands buy Stape for, getting complete server-side events to Meta, Google, TikTok and Klaviyo, without a GTM container. The difference is what happens before an event leaves: each visitor is resolved against our identity graph of 750M+ devices and 150M+ customers, so events carry an identity the platforms can match. It's priced per order, it costs more than Stape's hosting alone, and setup is included.

Skip it if your team wants to own every tag in GTM. Our Upstack vs Stape comparison covers that trade-off in detail.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Shopify and DTC brands that want first-party server-side tracking and identity resolution without building or maintaining tags.
How it works
Upstack Signal collects events first-party and sends them server-side, with no GTM containers. Visitors are resolved using deterministic and probabilistic matching, and an Upstack ID persists for the life of the customer, so a returning shopper on a new device or browser can still be recognized. Setup takes under 20 minutes. Destinations are Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat and Klaviyo.
Pricing (October 2026)
Per order and month to month: $149 a month to 1,000 orders, $249 to 3,000, $399 to 10,000, $699 to 15,000, $1,199 to 30,000 and $1,599 to 50,000, then quoted. Overage runs from $0.10 down to $0.05 an order. 21-day free trial with no credit card, and a 60-day 4x ROI guarantee. Every band is on our pricing page.
Strengths
No container to build or maintain, identity resolution included, setup and support included, and no annual term.
Limitations
No free plan. No data layer or GTM container for custom tags, and no GA4 destination. Shopify and DTC focus. For a team that already maintains its own container, Stape's hosting costs far less.

6. Tracklution: managed server-side tracking, priced by events

Our take. Tracklution sells managed server-side tracking rather than a server: you install it through one of its apps or a script, connect your ad platforms, and it maintains the setup. Its free plan covers Meta and Google Ads for small sites, and paid plans price by events. It suits teams that want Stape's outcome without GTM work.

Skip it if you want full control of every tag. Our Tracklution vs Stape comparison covers the two in detail.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Small and mid-size businesses that run Meta and Google ads and want tracking without GTM maintenance.
How it works
Per its pricing page, Tracklution offers server-side tracking with first-party collection, tracking-blocker resistance, cookieless identifiers and fingerprinting, offline conversion tracking, and automatic data layer reading. It installs through plug-and-play apps for GTM, Shopify, WooCommerce, Stripe and others, and says setup takes about 15 minutes with no maintenance or updates needed.
Pricing (October 2026)
Free covers 5,000 events a month, 1 website and the Meta and Google Ads connectors. Grow is €49 a month billed monthly, or €39.20 billed annually, for 50,000 events, with every connector, automations and an attribution engine, and a 14-day trial. Grow scales up to 3 million events, and the pricing table lists extra events at €0.0008 each. Enterprise is quoted. Tracklution is ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certified.
Strengths
No container to maintain, a free plan, offline conversions, and every connector on Grow.
Limitations
Event pricing climbs quickly with traffic; check its calculator at your volume. It describes fingerprinting among its identifiers, so check that fits your consent setup. One website per plan below Enterprise.

7. Elevar: a Shopify data layer with hosted server-side tracking

Our take. Elevar is a Shopify tracking app: a data layer, server-side tracking on its own Google Cloud infrastructure, and destinations you switch on in its dashboard. It works with or without GTM. It costs far more than Stape's hosting and far less effort to run.

Skip it if you have GTM skills and want the lowest running cost. Our Stape vs Elevar comparison compares the two directly.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Shopify brands with no GTM skills in-house that want tracking set up through an app.
How it works
Elevar's data layer feeds Shopify's Web Pixel and its hosted server-side pipeline, through Google Tag Manager or its GTM-less setup. It adds session enrichment to recognize returning shoppers and alerts when delivery to a destination drops.
Pricing (October 2026)
Per its Shopify App Store listing and the Audiense Online pricing page: Base is free to 100 orders, Core $225 a month for 2,000 orders, Advanced $650 for 10,000 and Premium $1,250 for 30,000, with Elite from $3,000. Base and Core include 2 advertising or analytics destinations; email tools such as Klaviyo need Advanced. 15-day free trial on paid plans.
Strengths
No GTM required, 50+ integrations, delivery monitoring, and 4.8 stars from 170 App Store reviews.
Limitations
The most expensive per order here at most volumes, destination caps by plan, and Shopify-centered. Every plan detail is in our Elevar pricing guide.

Source: Audiense Online pricing page, checked October 2026.

8. Littledata: a no-GTM Shopify app priced per order

Our take. Littledata is a Shopify app with server-side tracking and no Google Tag Manager, priced per order, with all 9 of its destinations on every plan. It's the simplest per-order alternative for a Shopify store that wants GA4, Meta and Klaviyo covered without a container.

Skip it if you want to build your own server-side logic. See our Upstack vs Littledata comparison.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Shopify brands that want server-side tracking for GA4, Meta and Klaviyo without GTM.
How it works
Server-side tracking set up without GTM or developers, per its Shopify App Store listing, with an Event Editor and Profit Signal. Scale adds Session Enrichment with a Persistent ID and a Segment destination.
Pricing (October 2026)
Flex is $0.35 per order with no monthly minimum. Scale is $199 a month with 1,500 orders included, then $0.15 an order to 3,000 and $0.06 above. Plus is $990 a month, or $9,504 a year, with 10,000 orders included. Every plan has a 30-day free trial, and its plans page shows 20% off annual billing.
Strengths
No GTM, every destination on every plan, a 30-day trial, and 4.8 stars from 147 App Store reviews.
Limitations
Flex gets expensive above about 570 orders a month. Persistent ID starts on Scale.

Source: Plans page, checked October 2026.

9. Blotout: first-party infrastructure on your own domain

Our take. Blotout's EdgeTag is the enterprise option: first-party collection on your own domain, single-tenant hosting, SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA, and 55+ integrations. It keeps one persistent identity across sessions and devices. Pricing is by events, from $60 a month, and the larger plans are annual commitments.

Skip it if you want a self-serve app with monthly billing at volume. Read our Blotout review or the Upstack vs Blotout comparison.

How it works, pricing, strengths and limitations
Best for
Larger brands, and health brands, that need compliance credentials and many channels.
How it works
Per the EdgeTag product page, it collects first-party data on your domain, keeps one persistent identity, and sends events server-side. It runs managed or self-hosted, and setup uses DNS records.
Pricing (October 2026)
Per its pricing page, Starter is $60 a month billed monthly for 100,000 events, with $1 per 5,000 events over. Growth is $400 a month for 3M events and Professional $800 a month for 8M, both annual commitments invoiced monthly, with a 30-day trial and an opt-out in the first 60 days.
Strengths
Compliance credentials, single-tenant hosting and 55+ integrations.
Limitations
Event-based pricing is hard to predict, and the plans with onboarding support are annual.

What each alternative costs at your store's size

Request and event pricing needs an assumption. For the request-priced hosts, we use about 400 requests per order (50 sessions per order at a 2% conversion rate, and about 8 requests per session), the same assumption as in our Stape vs Elevar comparison. For Blotout, we use its own guidance of about 5 events per pageview across four channels and 100 pageviews per order. Your real numbers may be far higher; check each vendor's calculator.

Tracklution prices by events on a sliding scale; its calculator gives the exact figure at your volume. The GTM hosts' figures cover hosting only. Building and maintaining the container is extra unless your team does it, and Stape's own setup service is from $1,100, with Stape Care from $99 a month.

When to stay on Stape

Stay if someone on your team already builds and maintains server-side GTM containers. Stape's hosting is the cheapest way to run server-side tracking at volume: $83 a month billed annually for 5 million requests is hard to beat. Its power-ups, such as Cookie Keeper, Click ID Restorer, Bot Detection and Enricher, add real value on top of plain hosting, and it supports WordPress, Magento, Wix, BigCommerce and more alongside Shopify.

Also stay if you only need Meta. Stape's Meta Conversions API Gateway hosting is $10 a month per pixel billed monthly ($8 billed annually), with a 7-day trial, per its gateway pricing, and needs no GTM. Our guide to the Conversions API Gateway explains what it covers.

How to switch from Stape

  1. Decide whether you're keeping GTM. Moving to TAGGRS, Addingwell or Cloud Run means exporting your server container and pointing a new tagging server URL at it. Moving to a no-GTM tool means replacing the container's job, not moving it.
  2. Run both in parallel. Keep Stape live while the new setup runs for two to four weeks.
  3. Give each destination one owner. If both systems send Purchase to Meta, match event IDs or turn one off, or platforms count the same order twice. Our guide to Meta event duplication explains how deduplication works.
  4. Compare orders received. Check purchases in Meta Events Manager and Google Ads against your store's order export for the same days, and check Event Match Quality.
  5. Cut over and clean up. Move the custom subdomain or remove the old DNS record, cancel the Stape plan in your Stape account, and remove Stape's Shopify app if you used it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Stape?

It depends on whether you're keeping Google Tag Manager. To keep server-side GTM on different hosting, TAGGRS is the closest swap and Addingwell has the largest free tier. To stop maintaining a container, Upstack Signal adds identity resolution, Tracklution prices by events, and Elevar and Littledata are Shopify apps priced per order.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Stape?

For hosting server-side GTM, not by much. TAGGRS Basic is €25 a month billed monthly for 750,000 requests, against $20 for Stape Pro's 500,000. Google Cloud Run costs about $90 a month for two servers before the preview server: more than Stape Pro, less than Stape Business or Enterprise. Every no-GTM alternative costs more per month than Stape's hosting, but includes the setup work.

What is the difference between Stape and TAGGRS?

Both host server-side GTM containers and price by requests. TAGGRS runs on UpCloud, a European provider, and is ISO 27001 certified; Stape lists 25 server zones and multi-zone infrastructure from its Business plan. Stape's paid plans cost a little less, and it offers more power-ups and platform apps. Our TAGGRS vs Stape comparison has the details.

Can I host server-side GTM myself instead of using Stape?

Yes, on Google Cloud Run. Google estimates about $45 a month per server and recommends at least two, plus a preview server. You handle the deployment, the custom domain, scaling and every tagging server update.

Is there a Stape alternative that doesn't need Google Tag Manager?

Yes. Upstack Signal, Tracklution, Littledata and Blotout send server-side events without a GTM container, and Elevar works with or without GTM. Stape's own Meta Conversions API Gateway also needs no GTM, but only covers Meta.

Which Stape alternative is best for Shopify?

For a Shopify store without GTM skills, Upstack Signal, Elevar and Littledata all install as Shopify apps and handle server-side events for you. To keep GTM, Analyzify builds Shopify-specific containers, and TAGGRS has its own Shopify app.

Compare Upstack Signal with Stape
