Tracklution vs Stape (2026): Managed Server-Side Tracking vs Hosted Server-Side GTM

Tracklution is managed server-side tracking: you add its script or app, point a subdomain at it, and switch on connectors to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and more, with no server container to build. It's free to 5,000 events a month, then €49 a month for 50,000. Stape hosts a server-side Google Tag Manager container that you or an agency build, free to 10,000 requests and $20 a month for 500,000. Stape costs less per hit; Tracklution does more of the work.

If neither fits, our guide to Stape alternatives covers the wider field. For this Tracklution vs Stape comparison, we checked both against their own pricing pages, integration lists and review profiles on October 24, 2026. Upstack is our product, and it appears only in the last two sections.

How do Tracklution and Stape work?

Tracklution sells a finished pipeline. Per its pricing page, it's "fully managed server-side tracking", installed through plug-and-play apps for GTM, Shopify, WooCommerce, Stripe and others, with optional automatic reading of your existing data layer. Every plan includes a tracking dashboard, first-party tracking (optional, but recommended), resistance to tracking blockers, what it calls cookieless identifiers and fingerprinting, and offline conversion tracking. You choose where events go from its integrations list: Google Ads, Meta, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok, Reddit, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Taboola, Outbrain, Adform, DV360, CM360, Awin, Klaviyo, GA4 and a custom connector. Sources include Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, Wix, WordPress, Stripe, HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Typeform, Zapier and webhooks.

Stape sells the server. You run a server-side GTM container on its hosting, on a subdomain of your site. Browser events, usually GA4 tags in your web GTM container, reach that server container, and server tags you configure forward them to each platform. Around the container, Stape adds power-ups by plan, per its pricing page: Custom Loader and a Global CDN on every plan; Cookie Keeper, Bot Detection, Data Store and the Enricher power-up from Pro; Monitoring and multi-zone infrastructure from Business.

Tracklution's own pricing FAQ puts the difference plainly: Stape's hosting means you still build and maintain the tags, triggers and configuration, while Tracklution sells setup, automatic event detection, consent handling, a dashboard and upkeep of each platform's API connection. That framing is Tracklution's, but it matches how Stape describes its product: a hosting service you configure in GTM.

Setup and day-to-day upkeep

Tracklution says it takes 15 minutes. The step that takes longest is DNS: its FAQ says the first-party CNAME record takes a few minutes to configure and up to 48 hours to propagate. After that, its pitch is "no maintenance or updates needed": when an ad platform changes its API, Tracklution updates the connector. If you'd rather not set it up yourself, it sells an installation service; the price isn't published.

Stape is self-serve. You create a container with its Setup Wizard, point a custom subdomain at it, install the platform app if there is one (Stape's Shopify app adds the web GTM snippet and purchase webhooks), then build and test web and server tags in GTM's preview mode. Theme changes, new apps and platform API changes are yours to keep up with. Stape's Care service does setup or an audit from $1,100, and ongoing monitoring from $99 a month on a Pro container, on top of hosting.

If nobody on your team works in GTM, Stape's low hosting price comes with a build cost. If someone does, Stape gives them full control of every tag, which Tracklution's connectors don't.

Tracklution vs Stape pricing

Tracklution prices by events a month, in euros, per its pricing page:

Tracklution planEvents a monthBilled monthlyBilled annuallyAdds

Grow's price rises with volume. Its calculator showed €79 a month at 100,000 events and €359 a month at 1 million events, billed monthly, and the plan table lists extra events at €0.0008 each. API access is a paid add-on on Grow.

Stape prices its server GTM hosting by requests, in dollars:

Stape planRequests a monthBilled monthlyBilled annually
Free10,000$0$0

A Stape request is every incoming hit to the container, including script loads such as gtm.js and gtag.js. Our Stape pricing guide has the full breakdown.

What each costs at three traffic levels

The units differ, so any side-by-side needs an assumption. Ours: about 5 tracked events per session for Tracklution (page views, product views, cart and checkout steps, purchases) and about 8 requests per session for Stape, which also counts script loads. Your ratios may differ, so check each vendor's calculator against your own traffic.

Sessions a monthTracklution (our assumption)Stape (our assumption)
1,000About 5,000 events: FreeAbout 8,000 requests: Free
20,000About 100,000 events: Grow, €79/mo billed monthlyAbout 160,000 requests: Pro, $20/mo billed monthly
200,000About 1 million events: Grow, €359/mo billed monthlyAbout 1.6 million requests: Business, $100/mo billed monthly

On hosting alone, Stape costs a fraction of Tracklution at every size above the free tiers. The gap narrows once you price the build: a year of Stape Business billed annually is $996, and adding Stape's setup from $1,100 plus a year of Stape Care billed annually ($1,490 on Business) brings it to about $3,600, against about €4,300 for a year of Tracklution Grow at 1 million events billed monthly. If your team builds and maintains the container itself, Stape stays close to the hosting price.

Which is more accurate, Tracklution or Stape?

Neither publishes an independent accuracy test. Tracklution's site carries customer quotes about higher tracked conversions; Stape's Requests Analytics report requests recovered from ad blockers and bot traffic. Neither tells you how many of your orders reached each ad platform.

The test that counts is your own:

  1. Run the new setup alongside your current one for two to four weeks.
  2. Compare the purchases each platform received (Meta Events Manager, Google Ads conversions) with your store's order export for the same days.
  3. Check Event Match Quality in Meta and make sure browser and server events share an event ID, so they deduplicate.

What do reviewers say?

Tracklution has 4.6 stars from 27 reviews on Trustpilot, on a profile it claimed in July 2024. Trustpilot notes it hasn't invited customers to review recently, so the sample is small and self-selected. Reviewers mention responsive support and a simple dashboard.

Stape has 3.7 stars from 128 reviews on Trustpilot, and its Shopify app has 4.3 stars from 42 reviews on the Shopify App Store. Positive reviews mention low cost, automatic scaling and templates; negative ones say it's hard to configure without GTM skills and that request counts ran higher than expected. Our Stape review goes through them.

Which should you choose: Tracklution or Stape?

If your business...Choose
Has someone who builds and maintains GTM containersStape
Has no GTM skills in-house and wants connectors switched on, not builtTracklution
Wants the lowest running cost at high trafficStape
Sends events to many ad networks, including Taboola, Outbrain, DV360 or Awin, without writing tagsTracklution
Wants custom server-side logic, such as profit values or CRM dataStape
Needs EU hosting without an Enterprise contractStape EU hosting
Needs a dedicated server or a chosen data locationTracklution Enterprise add-on, or Stape Custom
Only needs Meta's Conversions APIStape's Meta CAPI Gateway hosting, from $10 a month per pixel, or Tracklution Free

You could run both, but there's rarely a reason to: two systems sending the same Purchase to Meta can double-count sales unless every event shares an event ID. Our guide to Meta event duplication explains how deduplication works.

When neither is the right fit

Some brands compare these two because they want server-side events without maintaining GTM, and also want each event to carry a stronger identity, not only more events.

Upstack Signal, our product, covers that job for Shopify and DTC brands. Upstack Signal collects events first-party and sends them server-side to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat and Klaviyo, with no GTM containers. Each visitor is resolved with deterministic and probabilistic matching against our identity graph of 750M+ devices and 150M+ customers, and the Upstack ID persists for the life of the customer. It's priced per order and month to month: $149 a month for up to 1,000 orders, $399 to 10,000 and $1,199 to 30,000, with a 21-day free trial and setup in under 20 minutes. It has no free plan, sends to fewer platforms than Tracklution's list, and costs more than Stape's hosting alone.

Our Stape vs Google Cloud comparison covers self-hosting instead, and our TAGGRS vs Stape comparison covers another server-side GTM host.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tracklution better than Stape?

It depends on who runs your tracking. Tracklution is better if you want connectors switched on without building GTM containers. Stape is better if you have GTM skills and want full control of every tag at a lower hosting cost.

Does Tracklution need Google Tag Manager?

No. Tracklution installs through plug-and-play apps for Shopify, WooCommerce, Stripe and others, or through a GTM app if you already use GTM. You don't build or host a server-side GTM container.

Is Tracklution cheaper than Stape?

No, not on hosting. Stape's Pro plan is $20 a month billed monthly for 500,000 requests, while Tracklution's Grow plan is €49 a month for 50,000 events and €359 a month at 1 million. Tracklution's price includes the setup and connector upkeep that Stape leaves to you, so compare total cost, including your team's time.

Does Tracklution work with Shopify?

Yes. Shopify is one of its listed sources, alongside WooCommerce, Magento, Wix and others. Stape also has a free Shopify app that adds the web GTM snippet and purchase webhooks to your store.

Where is my data hosted with Tracklution and Stape?

Stape lets you choose EU hosting on Scaleway servers in Europe or Global hosting on Google Cloud. Tracklution offers a custom data location and a dedicated server as paid add-ons on its Enterprise plan, and its site says it's GDPR compliant and certified to ISO 27001 and SOC 2.

Can I switch from Stape to Tracklution?

Yes. Set up Tracklution's connectors, run both in parallel while you compare the purchases each platform receives, then remove your server-side GTM tags for those platforms so events aren't sent twice. Keep event IDs consistent during the overlap.
