Triple Whale fits Shopify brands whose spend is mostly digital and who want attribution, profit reporting and an AI agent in one tool, from $219 a month on a 12-month term. Rockerbox, now owned by DoubleVerify, fits larger brands whose media plan reaches TV, streaming, podcasts and direct mail, with attribution, MMM and managed testing on one data foundation. Rockerbox publishes no prices.

For the wider field, see our comparison of Triple Whale alternatives. If Northbeam is also on your shortlist, our Triple Whale vs Northbeam vs Rockerbox comparison covers all three. For this Rockerbox vs Triple Whale comparison, we checked both on October 24, 2026. Upstack is our product and comes up once near the end.

How do Triple Whale and Rockerbox collect data?

Triple Whale runs the Triple Pixel, a script that builds probabilistic and deterministic profiles of visitors so sessions from the same person join up. It connects to your store and ad accounts for orders and spend. For channels a pixel can't see, its Total Impact model weights credit using post-purchase survey answers.

Rockerbox pairs a JavaScript pixel with a server-side Shopify API integration that pulls completed orders as a backup, per its Shopify docs. Its homepage says it tracks clicks and views across paid social, search, display and video, and offline channels including CTV, linear TV, direct mail and podcasts. Where a pixel can't reach, it uses promo codes and post-purchase surveys.

That's the core difference. Triple Whale measures the ecommerce journey in depth and reports on it. Rockerbox measures a wider media plan and accepts coarser signals for the channels a pixel can't see.

Attribution models and windows

Triple Whale's Free plan reports first-click and last-click attribution. Paid plans add multi-touch models, including Total Impact; its pricing page no longer gives a count of models. You choose the lookback window. Our overview of what Triple Whale is lists the models and windows.

Rockerbox offers first touch, last touch, even weight and modeled multi-touch, plus custom credit allocation, per its attribution docs. It sets windows for you, channel by channel, per its window methodology: 150 days for clicks, 90 for verified views on display and native, 14 for linear TV, 7 for OTT and about 200 for direct mail. Data from its Meta, TikTok and Snapchat partnerships uses 7-day click and 1-day view.

If your team wants to tune windows to its own sales cycle, Triple Whale allows it. If you'd rather a fixed rule per channel ended the argument, Rockerbox provides one. For how window length moves the numbers, see our guide to multi-touch attribution.

MMM and incrementality testing

Both sell all three methods, packaged differently.

  • Triple Whale sells Compass, which combines MMM and incrementality testing, on Enterprise or as an add-on to Foundation and Automate. Neither price is published.
  • Rockerbox offers MTA, MMM and incrementality testing on one data foundation, and its plans page calls testing fully managed. Its homepage says test results can calibrate the MTA model and feed the MMM as priors.

For a brand with real TV or podcast spend, Rockerbox's combination of channel-specific windows, offline tracking and MMM is the stronger fit. For a digital-first Shopify brand, Compass is enough to start. Our explainer on MTA vs MMM vs incrementality covers which question each method answers.

Sending data back to ad platforms

Triple Whale's Sonar Optimize sends enriched events to the Conversions APIs of ten ad platforms, including Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Reddit, Snapchat and Pinterest, with a deduplication key, on every paid plan. Its attribution passback tells Meta how Triple Whale credited each order, which appears as Custom Attribution.

Rockerbox's DV Relay for Meta shares its event-level Meta attribution back to Meta for Custom Attribution campaigns, and needs a Meta dataset already receiving Purchase events. It also sends conversions to Google Ads through a Conversions API integration.

So both can now steer Meta's delivery toward their own attribution. Only Triple Whale also sends standard conversion events server-side to a long list of platforms.

Triple Whale vs Rockerbox pricing

Triple Whale has a Free plan, and its Shopify App Store listing shows Foundation from $219 a month or $2,190 a year and Automate from $749 a month or $7,490 a year. Enterprise, where Compass is included, is quoted. Paid plans are 12-month subscriptions priced on annual GMV. Our Triple Whale pricing guide covers the bands and add-ons.

Rockerbox publishes no prices. Its plans page asks you to select your mix of products, from data collection and tracking to exports, testing and MMM, and book a demo.

So you can only compare them on quotes. Ask both for the same scope: the channels you run, the methods you need and the contract length. A Triple Whale Foundation quote and a Rockerbox MTA-plus-MMM quote aren't buying the same thing.

Questions worth asking on each call:

  • Triple Whale: Which GMV band are we in, and what does the next band cost? Is Compass included at our tier or an add-on, and at what price? What happens to our price if revenue crosses a band mid-contract?
  • Rockerbox: Which products are in the quote: data collection, tracking, exports, testing, MMM? How many offline channels are included, and how are promo codes and surveys set up? What's the contract length, and what does onboarding include?
  • Both: Who on their team supports us after launch, and how quickly do they respond?

Setup and support

Triple Whale is self-serve; its pricing FAQ says most brands are set up in about 15 minutes. Expect attribution to need a few weeks of pixel data before it settles.

Rockerbox says testing can start in 1 to 2 weeks, while MTA or MMM takes 6 to 8 weeks depending on data readiness, and its plans page says most companies set up their data foundation within a few weeks. Onboarding is tailored to each customer.

What do reviewers say about each?

Triple Whale holds 4.1 stars from 94 reviews on the Shopify App Store; 17 of the 94 (18%) are one-star. Our Triple Whale overview covers the themes, including cancelling a 12-month plan.

Rockerbox holds 4.5 stars from 12 reviews on the Shopify App Store, most of them from 2020. That's too few, and too old, to judge the product as DoubleVerify runs it today. Ask for references at your spend level.

When neither is the right fit

Both tools assume a sizeable budget: Triple Whale prices on GMV with a 12-month term, and Rockerbox sells to brands with multi-channel media plans. Some Shopify brands want attribution and server-side events without either.

Upstack Data, our product, prices per order, month to month. Upstack Attribution reports first-click, last-click and any-click attribution with margin and LTV reporting, and Upstack Signal sends events server-side to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat and Klaviyo, resolving visitors against an identity graph of 750M+ devices and 150M+ customers. Attribution + Signal is $199 a month for up to 1,000 orders and $499 for up to 10,000, with a 21-day free trial. It doesn't track TV, podcasts or direct mail, credit ad views, or offer MMM or incrementality testing, so it's not a fit for a brand that needs Rockerbox's offline coverage.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rockerbox better than Triple Whale?

For brands with real TV, streaming, podcast or direct-mail spend, usually yes: Rockerbox tracks those channels and pairs attribution with MMM and managed testing. For digital-first Shopify brands, Triple Whale is faster to set up, publishes an entry price and adds profit reporting and an AI agent.

Which is cheaper, Triple Whale or Rockerbox?

Only Triple Whale publishes prices: a Free plan, and Foundation from $219 a month on a 12-month term. Rockerbox quotes every deal based on the products you choose, so compare written quotes for the same scope.

Does Triple Whale track TV and offline media?

Not directly. Its Total Impact model weights credit using post-purchase survey answers, which can capture channels like TV or podcasts that a pixel can't see. Rockerbox tracks offline channels with promo codes, surveys and channel-specific windows.

Who owns Rockerbox?

DoubleVerify. It agreed to buy Rockerbox in February 2025.

Does Rockerbox have MMM?

Yes. Rockerbox offers MMM alongside multi-touch attribution and incrementality testing, and its homepage says test results can feed the MMM as priors. Triple Whale's MMM is part of Compass.

Can I switch from Triple Whale to Rockerbox?

Yes, but plan for weeks, not days. Rockerbox says MTA or MMM setup takes 6 to 8 weeks, and Triple Whale's paid plans run for 12 months, so time the switch to your renewal.
