Cometly vs Triple Whale (2026): B2B Attribution vs Ecommerce Analytics Compared

Cometly and Triple Whale used to compete for the same Shopify brands. In 2026 they don't. Cometly now sells AI marketing attribution to B2B SaaS companies, tying ad spend to closed-won revenue in a CRM, and its Shopify app isn't currently available. Triple Whale is still built for ecommerce. For a Shopify store, the answer is usually Triple Whale or another ecommerce tool.

If you're leaving Triple Whale, our comparison of Triple Whale alternatives covers the ecommerce options. For this Triple Whale vs Cometly comparison, we checked both against their own sites, help docs and Shopify App Store listings on October 24, 2026. Upstack is our product and comes up once near the end.

What changed at Cometly

Older comparisons treat Cometly and Triple Whale as two ecommerce attribution tools. That's out of date.

Cometly's homepage now reads "AI Marketing Attribution For B2B SaaS Companies" and promises to "tie every ad dollar to closed-won ARR." Its pricing page says "Usage-based pricing. Built for B2B SaaS." Its Core plan lists account journeys, a Conversion API and an AI Ads Manager; Enterprise adds CRM and warehouse sync, an API, and Snowflake and BigQuery support. Its Shopify App Store page says the app is not currently available.

None of that makes Cometly a weak product. It means its roadmap points at long B2B sales cycles, lead forms and CRM deals, not checkout events and repeat purchases. If you run a Shopify store, weigh that before you book a demo.

How each one tracks and attributes

Cometly runs a pixel plus server-side tracking and sends conversions back through Conversions APIs. Its sync page lists Meta, Google, LinkedIn, TikTok, Microsoft, Reddit and Taboola as ad destinations, plus Snowflake and Amazon Redshift as warehouse exports. Its attribution guide lists eight models: First Touch, Last Touch, Last Non-Direct Touch, first-touch and last-touch versions limited to the sources you choose, Linear, Linear Paid and U-shaped. The source-specific models, which look at one channel at a time, are its recommended view inside its ads manager. LinkedIn and Microsoft on the destination list fit a B2B ad mix.

Triple Whale runs the Triple Pixel, which builds probabilistic and deterministic visitor profiles, and connects to your store and ad accounts. Its Free plan reports first-click and last-click attribution; paid plans add multi-touch models, including Total Impact, which weights channels using post-purchase survey answers. Sonar Optimize sends enriched events to ten ad platforms' Conversions APIs on every paid plan, and can pass Triple Whale's attribution back to Meta. On top sit profit, cohort and LTV reporting and the Moby AI agent. Our overview of what Triple Whale is covers each module.

The practical difference: Cometly's reports end at a CRM deal; Triple Whale's end at an order and its margin.

Who each one fits in 2026

Cometly fits a business whose sale happens after the click, in a CRM: SaaS trials and demos, B2B services, high-ticket offers with a sales team. Its account journeys, CRM and warehouse sync on Enterprise, and conversions sent to LinkedIn and Microsoft all point at that buyer. Its source-specific models suit a media buyer who works one channel at a time inside its ads manager.

Triple Whale fits a brand whose sale happens at checkout: a Shopify or DTC store with repeat customers, margins that vary by product and a paid-social budget. Its profit, cohort and LTV reporting, Sonar's server-side sending to ten ad platforms and Moby's actions in ad accounts all assume an online order.

Some businesses straddle both, such as a DTC brand with a wholesale arm sold through a sales team. In that case, measure each motion with the tool built for it rather than forcing one tool to cover both.

Switching between them

If you adopted Cometly when it targeted Shopify stores and are now moving to an ecommerce tool, four steps keep your data intact:

  1. Run both pixels in parallel for two to four weeks so the new tool has history before you cancel the old one.
  2. Pick one server-side sender per ad platform. Both send to Meta's Conversions API; if both send Purchase with different event IDs, Meta can count the sale twice. Triple Whale's Sonar Optimize guide warns about exactly this.
  3. Rebuild your saved reports in the new tool's models before your team relies on them. Names like "first touch" and "first click" mean the same thing; the source-specific models in Cometly have no direct match in Triple Whale.
  4. Check your contract dates. Triple Whale's paid plans run for 12 months, while Cometly bills monthly or annually, so check both before you sign or cancel.

Cometly vs Triple Whale pricing

Cometly publishes no prices. Its pricing page shows two plans, Core and Enterprise, and says all plans are "tailored to fit your existing monthly pageviews." You get a number on a call.

Triple Whale has a Free plan, and its Shopify App Store listing shows Foundation from $219 a month or $2,190 a year and Automate from $749 a month or $7,490 a year. Enterprise is quoted. Paid plans are 12-month subscriptions priced on annual GMV, so the price rises as you grow. Our Triple Whale pricing guide covers the bands and add-ons.

The two meter different things. Cometly's bill tracks site traffic, so a content-heavy site pays for pageviews that never buy. Triple Whale's tracks revenue, so a good quarter raises next year's price. Ask each for a written quote at your own traffic and GMV.

What do reviewers say about each?

Triple Whale holds 4.1 stars from 94 reviews on the Shopify App Store; 17 of the 94 (18%) are one-star. Our Triple Whale overview covers what reviewers praise and criticize, including cancelling a 12-month plan.

Cometly's Shopify app isn't available, so there's no current App Store rating to compare. Read B2B reviews with care if you're an ecommerce brand: praise for CRM attribution doesn't tell you how it handles a Shopify checkout.

When neither is the right fit

Some Shopify brands look at Cometly because they want server-side events and attribution without GMV-based pricing.

Upstack Data, our product, prices per order, month to month. Upstack Attribution reports first-click, last-click and any-click attribution with margin and LTV reporting, and Upstack Signal sends events server-side to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat and Klaviyo, resolving visitors against an identity graph of 750M+ devices and 150M+ customers. Attribution + Signal is $199 a month for up to 1,000 orders and $499 for up to 10,000, with a 21-day free trial and a 60-day 4x ROI guarantee. It's built for Shopify and DTC brands, so it isn't a fit for B2B SaaS, and it doesn't offer MMM, incrementality testing or an AI agent.
