Northbeam vs Aixel (2026): Website Attribution vs WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger Attribution
Northbeam and Aixel answer different questions. Northbeam attributes website orders across your paid channels for brands with large ad budgets, with plans from $1,500. Aixel attributes sales that start in a WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger conversation, from $49 a month. If your customers buy on your site, look at Northbeam. If they buy in a chat, look at Aixel.
We checked both tools against their own pricing pages, docs and guides on October 24, 2026. Upstack is our product and appears only in the "when neither fits" section. For the wider field, our comparison of Northbeam alternatives covers eight tools.

How do Northbeam and Aixel track sales?
Northbeam starts from your website. Its pixel docs describe a script that runs on every page, recording each visit, the marketing touchpoint that brought the visitor in, and the pages viewed. Northbeam builds each customer's journey from those visits and attributes orders to channels. The docs are blunt about the dependency: if the pixel doesn't fire, Northbeam can't see which channels drove those visits and orders, and the data can't be recovered. Shopify stores install it in the theme and as a Shopify Custom Pixel; stores on other checkouts need the Professional or Enterprise plan.
Aixel starts from the conversation. Its WhatsApp Conversions API guide, written by co-founder and CEO Nikhil Paul, explains the mechanism. A tap on a Click-to-WhatsApp ad creates a unique click ID, ctwa_clid, that travels into the chat. Aixel captures it when the conversation opens, keeps it attached to the lead as it moves through salespeople and CRM stages, and reports the outcome to Meta only when a lead or purchase actually happens. Its home page lists the same messaging attribution for Instagram DMs and Messenger, alongside server-side website tracking and Conversions API events.
The practical difference: Northbeam listens for website visits, Aixel listens for chats. A Click-to-WhatsApp ad opens a conversation with no landing page, so the customer may never visit your site before buying.
Does Northbeam track WhatsApp sales?
Not as far as its documentation shows. We found nothing in Northbeam's docs or pricing page about attributing sales that start in WhatsApp, Instagram DMs or Messenger, or about Click-to-WhatsApp click IDs. Because Northbeam's touchpoints come from visits its pixel records, a buyer who taps an ad, chats, and pays through a link from a salesperson may never create a visit Northbeam can attribute.
If your chat-led sales eventually land in your store as orders, Northbeam will see the order. What it can't do, based on its docs, is connect that order back to the ad that opened the chat. Ask Northbeam's sales team directly if this matters to you, and get the answer in writing.
Setup and day-to-day use
Northbeam onboarding takes weeks rather than minutes. Its implementation guide puts Shopify brands at two to four weeks and other platforms at four to eight, with a DNS A-record, order data from Shopify or its Orders API, its UTM parameters, and at least three fully tracked days before Northbeam validates your data. Our Northbeam review covers what that looks like in practice. Day to day, media buyers work from its dashboards, and Apex can feed Northbeam's attribution into Meta.
Aixel is self-serve with a free trial. You connect your WhatsApp Business accounts (each plan supports a set number), your ad accounts and your CRM. Its guide notes that WhatsApp Business App alone can't capture the click ID: you need the WhatsApp Cloud API on the number, which Meta's Coexistence feature lets you run alongside the familiar app. Day to day, sales teams work leads in Aixel's CRM or their own, and marketers see which ads produced revenue rather than only chats.
Northbeam vs Aixel pricing
Northbeam publishes four plans on its pricing page, each tied to ad spend:
- Starter: $1,500, for brands spending under $1.5M a year on ads. Month to month and usage-based, for Shopify brands.
- Professional: $3,500 a month, for brands spending up to $500K a month. Annual term.
- Growth (with an agency partner) and Enterprise: custom quotes. Enterprise is an annual term.
Its FAQ says plans "start at" these rates and your actual price depends on the volume of data your site generates, measured in pageviews. There's no free trial; every plan begins with a demo. Our Northbeam pricing guide covers each plan and what a year costs.
Aixel publishes three self-serve plans on its pricing page, plus Enterprise on request:
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly | Events a month | Users | WhatsApp Business accounts |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | $49/mo | $490/yr | Up to 100K | 2 | 2 |
| Scale | $99/mo | $990/yr | Up to 500K | 5 | 5 |
| Pro | $149/mo | $1,490/yr | Up to 1M | 10 | 10 |
Extra users are $5 a month each. Aixel counts both incoming and outgoing data points as events, so tracking 50,000 website actions and sending them to Meta's Conversions API counts as 100,000 events, per its pricing FAQ. Growth includes first-touch and last-touch attribution; multi-touch, the sales CRM, API and MCP access start on Scale. The trial is 14 days with no credit card.
On list prices alone, Aixel's top self-serve plan costs about a tenth of Northbeam's Starter. That comparison only matters if both tools would do the job you need, and for most businesses only one of them will.
How do you check which one is accurate?
Neither tool publishes an independent accuracy test, so test against your own records:
- For Northbeam, compare its attributed orders and revenue with your store's order export over two to four weeks.
- For Aixel, compare the conversions it reports to Meta with closed deals in your CRM for the same period. Its own guide suggests asking for one real lead that closed and checking the same
ctwa_clidappears at the start of the chat and on the reported outcome. - For both, spot-check a handful of individual sales and see whether the journey shown matches what you know about that customer.
Can you use Northbeam and Aixel together?
Yes, if your business sells both ways: a website that takes most orders, plus Click-to-WhatsApp or DM ads that close sales in chat. Northbeam would attribute the website orders; Aixel would attribute the chat-led sales.
Plan two things before you turn both on:
- Decide who reports each sale to Meta. For WhatsApp, Aixel's guide says Meta's Conversions API accepts two outcomes, Lead and Purchase, and Aixel reports them when they happen. Northbeam's Apex sends a separate passback event that, per its FAQ, leaves your existing pixel and CAPI events unchanged. If a chat-led sale is also recorded as a store order, make sure only one system sends that Purchase to Meta.
- Keep the WhatsApp click ID with the lead. Aixel's guide calls this the most common failure: the click ID is captured in the chat but never reaches the CRM where the sale is logged.
Which should you choose: Northbeam or Aixel?
| If your business... | Choose |
|---|---|
| Takes most orders on its website or Shopify store | Northbeam |
| Runs Click-to-WhatsApp, Instagram DM or Messenger ads that close in chat | Aixel |
| Has salespeople who close deals over WhatsApp | Aixel |
| Has a large ad budget and wants MMM or incrementality options | Northbeam |
| Wants a free trial and a published price under $150 a month | Aixel |
| Needs to send CRM stages and offline sales back to Meta | Aixel |
| Wants view-through conversions in its attribution | Northbeam (Clicks + Deterministic Views) |
When neither is the right fit
Some brands looking at both are Shopify or DTC stores whose sales happen on their website, and who mainly want attribution they trust and better conversion data reaching Meta, without a $1,500 entry price.
Upstack Data, our product, covers those two jobs. Upstack Signal sends events to the Conversions APIs server-side with identity resolution, and Upstack Attribution reports first-click, last-click and any-click attribution. Pricing is per order and month to month, from $99 a month for Attribution and $199 for Attribution + Signal, with a 21-day free trial and a 60-day 4x ROI guarantee. It doesn't attribute sales that happen inside WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger chats: our integrations cover stores, checkouts and ad platforms, not messaging apps. It also doesn't offer MMM or incrementality testing, so it isn't a replacement for Northbeam's Enterprise add-ons or for Aixel's chat tracking.

Frequently asked questions
What is Aixel?
Aixel is a first-party data and attribution platform from Bubbledata Technologies Private Limited, based in Bangalore, India. It tracks website events server-side, sends Conversions API events to Meta, Google, TikTok and Snapchat, and attributes conversions that start in WhatsApp, Instagram DMs and Messenger. Plans run from $49 to $149 a month billed monthly, with a 14-day free trial.
Does Northbeam track WhatsApp sales?
Its documentation doesn't cover it. Northbeam attributes orders using visits its pixel records on your website, and we found nothing in its docs about WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram DM attribution or about Click-to-WhatsApp click IDs. A sale that starts and closes in a chat may never create a visit Northbeam can attribute.
How do you attribute click-to-WhatsApp ads?
Every tap on a Click-to-WhatsApp ad creates a click ID called ctwa_clid that enters the chat. To attribute the sale, you capture that ID when the chat opens, keep it attached to the lead through your CRM, and report the lead or purchase back to Meta through the Conversions API when it happens. WhatsApp Business App labels give Meta a rough free signal; the Conversions API, built yourself or through a platform such as Aixel, gives order-level detail.
Which is cheaper, Northbeam or Aixel?
Aixel, by list price: $49 to $149 a month billed monthly, against $1,500 for Northbeam Starter and $3,500 a month for Professional. They aren't substitutes, though. Aixel is for chat-led sales; Northbeam is for website orders at large ad budgets.
Can I use Northbeam and Aixel together?
Yes. A brand with a website and chat-led sales could use Northbeam for site orders and Aixel for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger sales. Decide which system reports each sale to Meta so a purchase isn't counted twice.
Does Aixel work with Shopify?
Aixel's plans include "Custom Website & Shopify Tracking", and its terms describe connecting a Shopify store. We didn't find an Aixel listing on the Shopify App Store when we checked.
