Retention.com Pricing (2026): The Flat Fee, Contract Terms, Free Trial and What to Ask For

Retention.com doesn't publish its prices. Its own pages describe a flat monthly fee, agreed on an order form after a sales call, that doesn't rise with the number of visitors it identifies. Once the order form's service term ends, the contract runs month to month with 30 days' notice to cancel. The free trial lasts 14 days and includes 1,000 leads.

Our guide to Retention.com alternatives compares it with Opensend, Tie and five other tools. For this page, we checked Retention.com's website, help center, terms of service and G2 listing on October 24, 2026. Upstack is our product, and its Audience add-on competes with Retention.com, so we've kept to what Retention.com publishes and written "not published" wherever it doesn't.

Source: Retention.com vs Opensend, Retention.com's terms of service and its trial sign-up page, checked October 24, 2026.

The address retention.com/pricing redirects to that trial sign-up page, and its DTC ecommerce page asks you to book a call. Neither shows a dollar figure. Its comparison with Opensend explains the model instead: per-identity pricing grows with your traffic, while "Retention.com's flat fee is the same at either volume."

So the straight answer to "how much is Retention.com?" is a fixed monthly amount you'll only see on a quote. The rest of this guide covers what that amount buys, the terms around it, and what to pin down before you sign.

How does Retention.com pricing work?

Six rules from Retention.com's comparison pages, terms and help center decide what you pay:

  1. One flat fee, set on an order form. The terms say you pay the fees described in your order form. The comparison pages call it a flat monthly fee for data access.
  2. The fee doesn't grow with identities. Its Opensend comparison lists the cost of one additional identity as $0 and says the fee doesn't change with volume.
  3. Volume is still managed. The help center's collection rules guide describes rules that fire after a set number of page views or seconds on a page, as a way to manage your monthly credits and stay inside credit limits. So ask whether your fee comes with a monthly allowance of contacts.
  4. You pay for net-new contacts only. Per its attribution guide, it doesn't collect anyone already on your list, subscribed or unsubscribed. It waits 15 minutes by default before sending a contact, so a shopper who signs up or buys during the visit isn't claimed, and it checks new contacts against your file every day.
  5. Billing is monthly and upfront. Your first month's fee is charged when you sign and covers the first full month after onboarding. After that you're invoiced each month, with payment due within 30 days and a finance charge of 1.5% a month on late balances. The help center says failed card payments are retried, and repeated failures can cancel the account automatically.
  6. The term is on your order form. The terms say the agreement runs for the service term in your order form, then month to month until either side cancels with 30 days' notice. Its Opensend comparison describes month-to-month plans with no annual contract, so read the term on your own order form.

What's included in the Retention.com fee?

Retention.com sells its ecommerce service as four jobs, per its DTC ecommerce page:

What you getWhat it does
List growth (Grow)Adds net-new, inbox-verified emails from US visitors who never filled in a form
Abandonment recovery (Reclaim)Fires your browse, cart and checkout flows for known subscribers your email platform didn't recognize
SMS recoverySends more triggered texts by identifying subscribers who were shopping anonymously
Meta and ad audiencesPushes hashed-email audiences to Meta, refreshed continuously

Around those jobs it lists:

  • Delivery checks. Every address is inbox-verified, screened for spam traps and checked against whether Retention.com recently passed the same person to another brand.
  • Volume controls. Contacts are calibrated to your engagement levels, with guardrails that limit volume to protect your sender reputation.
  • Integrations. Twelve email platforms, including Klaviyo, Attentive, Omnisend and Mailchimp, plus Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento, webhooks and Zapier. It also delivers by CDP sync, API or flat file.
  • Service. On managed accounts, a dedicated customer success manager, account monitoring and a monthly performance recap.
  • Enrichment. The trial sign-up page offers demographic data for existing profiles: age, gender and household income.

What isn't published is which of those your fee covers. The help center treats Grow and Reclaim as separate products, and its G2 listing prices them separately, so ask for each one by name on the quote.

Retention.com prices you'll see elsewhere, and why they differ

Search for Retention.com pricing and you'll find figures that don't appear on its website. Three sources account for most of them:

  • Its G2 listing. G2's pricing page shows two products: Grow at $0.10 per lead and Reclaim at $79 a month, both marked no contract. G2 says the figures were supplied by the vendor or taken from public pricing materials, and dates them April 6, 2026. They don't match the flat fee Retention.com's own pages describe, so treat them as a reference point, not a quote.
  • Plans from before November 2022. Retention.com's help article on overages still lists monthly plans from $19 to $999 and up, each with a set number of included contacts and a per-contact overage rate. The article says it applies only to non-annual subscriptions started before November 2022.
  • Comparison articles. Some third-party articles quote a monthly price for Retention.com. It doesn't publish one, so we haven't repeated those figures here.

The older plans show that Retention.com has priced by contact volume before. If a quote sits close to a figure you've seen elsewhere, ask which products and which contact volume it covers.

Does Retention.com have a free trial?

Yes. The trial sign-up page offers 14 days and 1,000 leads, meaning identified visitors. Its comparison pages also offer a free head-to-head test: Retention.com runs in your Klaviyo account on the same flows as a tool you already use, over the same window, and you compare the results yourself.

A 1,000-lead trial shows you contact quality and how your flows behave with the new contacts. It won't show you the price, which comes from the sales call.

Can you cancel or pause Retention.com?

  • Cancelling. After the service term on your order form, the contract is month to month, and either side can end it with 30 days' notice. The help center says changes to your account status, cancellation included, go through your client success manager.
  • Pausing. Its Opensend comparison says you can turn the account off in slow months and restart it for peak season, and the dashboard has a switch to turn the collection script off. Neither says whether billing pauses too, so ask.
  • Keeping your contacts. The terms let you keep the contacts Retention.com delivered after the agreement ends, with a perpetual license to use them for your own marketing. You can't resell them.

Before you cancel, keep a segment of the contacts Retention.com added in your email platform, so you can keep measuring them after it stops sending new ones.

What to ask for in a Retention.com quote

Because the price is set on a call, the quote is where you protect yourself. Ask for these in writing:

  1. The monthly fee, and which products it covers. Name Grow, Reclaim, SMS recovery, Meta audiences and enrichment one by one.
  2. Any contact or credit allowance. How many contacts a month the fee covers, and what happens past it: collection stops, you pay more, or nothing changes.
  3. The service term. How long the order form commits you for, and the date by which you'd need to give 30 days' notice.
  4. When billing starts. The terms bill your first full month after onboarding, so ask how long onboarding takes.
  5. Pausing. Whether turning the account off in slow months stops the fee, and how much notice it needs.
  6. How results are counted. Retention.com counts Grow revenue only from orders placed at least 12 hours after it delivers a contact, shows Reclaim revenue only for Klaviyo, and folds your subscription cost into its ROI figure. Ask how to check the same numbers from a segment in your own email platform.
  7. Volume and deliverability controls. Collection rules, the resolution delay and daily suppression all change how many contacts you get, and so what each one costs you.
  8. Your privacy notice. The terms require you to describe the service in your privacy policy and link to Retention.com's opt-out page. Get the recommended wording and have your own counsel review it.

How to compare a flat fee with per-identity pricing

Retention.com's own advice is to multiply your monthly identity volume by a per-identity rate and set the result against its flat fee. These are the published figures for that comparison, at the three volumes Opensend prices:

Identified visitors a monthOpensend, billed annuallyOpensend, billed monthlyUpstack Audience, plus a Signal plan
2,000$400 a month (Tier 1)$500 a month$200 a month (Starter, up to 8,000 matches)
4,300$800 a month (Tier 2)$1,000 a month$200 a month (Starter)
9,500$1,600 a month (Tier 3)$2,000 a month$500 a month (Growth, up to 25,000 matches)

Sources: Opensend pricing, checked October 24, 2026, and Upstack Audience pricing.

If your Retention.com quote is below the figure in your row, its flat fee costs less at that volume; above it, a per-identity price does. Three things complicate the arithmetic:

  • Identities aren't interchangeable. In a test Retention.com published, the contacts it and Opensend found overlapped by only 3.2%, and vendors count identified visitors differently.
  • Upstack Audience needs a Signal plan. Signal is $149 a month for up to 1,000 orders, so add that if you don't already run it.
  • Tie prices differently again. Its identification starts on the Launch plan, at $2,000 a month billed monthly or $18,000 prepaid for the year, on a 12-month contract, per its pricing page.

Is Retention.com worth the price?

Retention.com is easiest to justify when a flat fee spreads across a lot of contacts:

  • High US traffic. Its network is geofenced to the US, and a fee that doesn't rise with identities rewards volume.
  • Klaviyo stores. Reclaim revenue reporting works only for Klaviyo today, so that's where you can measure it best.
  • Brands that want the records themselves. It delivers to email platforms, CDPs, APIs and flat files, and you keep the contacts after you leave.

It's harder to justify in three cases:

  • Low traffic. A fixed fee divided by a few hundred contacts can cost more per contact than a per-identity price. One G2 reviewer said pricing may feel high for smaller teams or lower traffic.
  • A large share of non-US visitors. They won't be identified.
  • A fragile sender reputation. New contacts who never signed up on your site carry deliverability risk; one G2 reviewer reported damage to their domain reputation.

Our Retention.com review covers how Grow and Reclaim work and what G2 reviewers say.

Sources, checked October 24, 2026: Opensend pricing, Tie pricing and Upstack Audience pricing.

  • Opensend publishes a price per identity delivered, from $0.168 to $0.25 depending on tier and billing, and identities can be capped. See our Upstack vs Opensend comparison.
  • Tie adds predictive scores and inbox placement to identification, all drawn from one credit balance, but every plan is a 12-month contract.
  • Upstack Audience is our product. It identifies visitors from third-party partner data collected on an opt-in basis, from $0.025 per resolved match, and unused matches roll over. It has clear limits next to Retention.com: it needs a Signal plan, it delivers only to Klaviyo and Omnisend (plus the match to Meta for upper-funnel events), and it runs on a yearly plan rather than month to month.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Retention.com cost per month?

Retention.com doesn't publish a price. It charges a flat monthly fee, agreed on an order form after a sales call, that doesn't change with the number of visitors it identifies. You'll need a quote to compare it with tools that publish their prices.

Does Retention.com charge per contact?

Not on its current pricing, by its own description: a flat monthly fee, with $0 for each additional identity. Plans started before November 2022 included a set number of contacts and charged an overage rate above it, and its G2 listing still shows Grow at $0.10 per lead. Ask whether your fee includes a monthly contact allowance.

Does Retention.com require an annual contract?

Its Opensend comparison says there's no annual contract. Its terms set a service term in your order form, after which the contract runs month to month with 30 days' notice, so check the term on your order form before you sign.

Does Retention.com have a free trial?

Yes, 14 days with 1,000 leads. It also offers a free head-to-head test, running in your Klaviyo account on the same flows as a tool you already use.

Can I pause Retention.com?

Retention.com says you can turn the account off in slow months and restart it for peak season, and you can switch the collection script off from the dashboard. It doesn't say whether the fee pauses, so get that in writing.

What happens to my contacts if I cancel Retention.com?

You keep them. The terms give you a perpetual license to use the contacts Retention.com delivered for your own marketing after the agreement ends. You can't sell or pass them to anyone else.

Is Retention.com cheaper than Opensend?

It depends on your volume and your quote. Opensend publishes $400 to $1,600 a month billed annually ($500 to $2,000 billed monthly) for 2,000 to 9,500+ identities. Retention.com's flat fee isn't published, so multiply your expected identities by Opensend's rate and compare that with the quote you get.
