Elevar vs Triple Whale (2026): Server-Side Tracking, Attribution, Pricing and Running Both
Elevar and Triple Whale do different jobs. Elevar pushes cleaner Shopify conversion data out to Meta, Google, GA4, Klaviyo and other destinations. Triple Whale pulls data in and tells you which channels earned the sale. Many stores run both. If you do, let only one of them send standard events to Meta.
If you're replacing one of them rather than choosing, see our guides to Elevar alternatives and Triple Whale alternatives. For this Triple Whale vs Elevar comparison, we checked both against their pricing pages, help docs and Shopify App Store listings on October 24, 2026. Upstack is our product and comes up once near the end.

What does each one actually do?
The simplest way to separate them: Elevar's job is to push your store's data out, and Triple Whale's job is to pull data in and make sense of it.
Elevar sits between your Shopify store and your marketing tools. It builds a data layer of product, order, customer and click data, sends events server-side so ad blockers and browser limits drop fewer of them, and recognizes returning visitors for up to a year by storing session data on its servers rather than in a cookie. It then monitors delivery for each destination and alerts you when accuracy drops, per its product page. Elevar says it helps you "improve attribution," and it does, in the sense that Meta, Google and GA4 get more complete data to attribute with. It doesn't give you attribution models or a channel ROAS report of its own. Our Elevar review covers how it works in more detail.
Triple Whale is where you go to read results. The Triple Pixel is a script in your site header that builds probabilistic and deterministic profiles of visitors, so sessions from the same person join up. On top of that sit attribution models, profit and cohort reporting, creative analysis, the Moby AI agent and, on Enterprise, marketing mix modeling and incrementality tests. Our overview of what Triple Whale is goes through each module.
So the common question "which is better?" has a plain answer: they're not built to replace each other. The real overlap is narrower, and it's where problems start.
Where they overlap: sending conversions to Meta and Google
Triple Whale isn't only a dashboard. Its Sonar Optimize sends enriched events server-side to the Conversions APIs of ten ad platforms, with a deduplication key so the platform can merge them with its own pixel. Sonar is included in every paid plan, per Triple Whale's pricing FAQ. That's the same job Elevar does for Meta, Google Ads and TikTok.
The two differ at the edges:
- Only Elevar sends to GA4, to affiliate networks such as Impact, CJ and AWIN, to BigQuery, and to ad platforms like Microsoft Ads and LinkedIn.
- Only Triple Whale passes its attribution back. Sonar's attribution passback tells Meta how Triple Whale credited each order, which shows up in Meta as Custom Attribution, so Meta can optimize toward Triple Whale's model rather than only its own.
- Elevar limits destinations by plan. Base and Core include 2 ad or analytics destinations. Klaviyo and other email tools need Advanced or higher, and each extra destination is $125 a month from Advanced up.
If Meta, Google Ads and TikTok are the only places your events need to go, Triple Whale's Sonar may cover what you'd buy Elevar for. If you also need GA4, Klaviyo, affiliates or a data layer your team builds GTM tags on, Elevar still has a job.
Can you run Elevar and Triple Whale together?
Yes, and plenty of stores do. The risk is double counting. Triple Whale's own Sonar Optimize guide says that two providers sending the same standard conversion events to the same platform and dataset can create duplicate events and hurt optimization. If Elevar and Sonar both send Purchase to the same Meta dataset with different event IDs, Meta can count the sale twice.
The setup that avoids it:
- Give one tool the standard events. Decide which tool sends Purchase, Add to Cart and the other standard events to each ad platform. If Elevar is already installed and tested, it's usually the one to keep.
- Use Sonar for passback only. Triple Whale's guide says that for Meta passback-only use, you keep Sonar's standard-event toggles off and leave Attribution Passback on. Passback and Sonar's custom events can run alongside another CAPI provider when that provider isn't sending the same events.
- Keep the Meta browser pixel running. The server-side sender deduplicates against it using a shared event ID.
- Check Events Manager after a week. Compare Meta's Purchase count against Shopify orders for the same days. A total well above your order count means two sources are sending.
- Do the same for Klaviyo. Triple Whale says Sonar Send flows run in parallel with Klaviyo's standard-event flows. If Elevar also feeds Klaviyo, decide which events trigger which flows so shoppers don't get two abandoned-cart emails.
Elevar vs Triple Whale pricing
The two are priced on different things, so compare them at your own numbers.
Elevar charges by monthly orders and destinations. Its pricing page lists Base free to 100 orders, Core at $225 a month for 2,000 orders, Advanced at $650 for 10,000, Premium at $1,250 for 30,000 and Elite from $3,000 for 75,000, with overage from $0.75 an order on Base down to $0.04 on Elite. Expert installation is $1,000 one time. The App Store listing bills every 30 days, and we found no annual term. The full breakdown is in our Elevar pricing guide.
Triple Whale prices paid plans on annual GMV. Its Shopify App Store listing shows Foundation from $219 a month or $2,190 a year and Automate from $749 a month or $7,490 a year. Enterprise is quoted. All paid plans are 12-month subscriptions, and the price rises with your GMV band. Our Triple Whale pricing guide covers the bands and add-ons.
What running both costs
Here's the floor for two example stores, assuming a $100 average order. Triple Whale's price is the published entry point; it doesn't publish a price per GMV band, so a quote may come in higher.
| Example store | Orders a month | Annual GMV | Elevar | Triple Whale | Both, per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Store A | 1,000 | $1.2M | Core, $225 | Foundation, from $219 | From $444 |
| Store B | 4,000 | $4.8M | Advanced, $650 | Foundation, from $219 | From $869 |
Store A gets 2 destinations on Core, both ad or analytics tools, such as Meta and Google Ads. Adding Klaviyo means Advanced at $650. Store B is cheaper on Advanced than on Core, which would cost $225 plus 2,000 extra orders at $0.50, or $1,225. Over a year, Store A pays at least $4,890 for both tools if it prepays Triple Whale annually, and Store B at least $9,990.
Which is more accurate, Elevar or Triple Whale?
They measure different kinds of accuracy, so test each on its own job.
For Elevar, accuracy means how many of your real orders reach each destination. Elevar says it captures nearly 100% of conversions; that's its own claim. Check it by comparing purchases in Meta Events Manager and GA4 against Shopify orders for the same week.
For Triple Whale, accuracy means whether orders are credited to the right channel. Compare its attributed revenue with Shopify's total, then spot-check a sample of orders: does the credited ad match what you'd expect from the customer's journey? Our guide to first click vs last click attribution explains why different models give different answers.
A store can pass one test and fail the other. Clean events don't fix a weak attribution model, and a strong model can't make Meta optimize on events it never received.
What do reviewers say about each?
Elevar holds 4.8 stars from 170 reviews on the Shopify App Store; 11 of the 170 (6%) are one-star. The App Store's own summary says merchants report cleaner tracking and praise onboarding and support. Our Elevar review goes through the themes.
Triple Whale holds 4.1 stars from 94 reviews; 17 of the 94 (18%) are one-star. Our Triple Whale overview covers what reviewers praise and criticize, including cancelling a 12-month plan.
Which should you choose: Elevar or Triple Whale?
| If your store... | Choose |
|---|---|
| Sees Meta or Google reporting fewer purchases than Shopify, or a low Event Match Quality | Elevar |
| Needs the same events in GA4, Klaviyo, affiliate networks and ad platforms | Elevar |
| Has a team that builds its own tags in Google Tag Manager | Elevar |
| Wants to know which channels and campaigns earn profit | Triple Whale |
| Wants cohorts, LTV, product and creative reporting | Triple Whale |
| Needs MMM or incrementality testing | Triple Whale (Compass) |
| Wants Meta to optimize toward a different attribution model | Triple Whale (attribution passback) |
| Can't sign a 12-month contract | Elevar |
| Spends across several ad channels and needs clean data and attribution | Both, with one tool sending standard events |
Which do you need first?
Start from the problem you can see.
If ad platforms are under-reporting sales, retargeting audiences look thin or Klaviyo flows miss shoppers, the data going out is the problem, and tracking comes first. If your events look right but you can't tell which channel deserves the next dollar, attribution comes first.
One caution if you start with Triple Whale: once Sonar is sending to Meta, Google Ads and TikTok, adding Elevar later means switching those standard events off in one tool, as above. Plan which tool owns them before you turn on the second one.
When neither is the right fit
Some stores look at both because they want two things: complete server-side events reaching Meta and Google, and attribution they trust, without two subscriptions and a 12-month term.
Upstack Data, our product, covers those two jobs. Upstack Signal sends events server-side to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat and Klaviyo, with no Google Tag Manager container, and resolves visitors against an identity graph of 750M+ devices and 150M+ customers. Upstack Attribution reports first-click, last-click and any-click attribution. Together they cost $199 a month for up to 1,000 orders and $499 for up to 10,000, month to month, with a 21-day free trial. Those are the price bands for Store A and Store B above. It doesn't offer MMM, incrementality testing or an AI agent, and it doesn't give you a data layer to build your own tags on, so it isn't a like-for-like swap for everything Triple Whale or Elevar does. Frequently asked questions
Is Elevar an attribution tool?
Not in the reporting sense. Elevar is server-side tracking: it sends more complete conversion and click data to Meta, Google, GA4 and other tools, which improves their attribution. It doesn't offer attribution models or channel ROAS reports. Triple Whale does.
Does Triple Whale replace Elevar?
Sometimes. Triple Whale's Sonar Optimize sends server-side events to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and seven other ad platforms on every paid plan. If those are your only destinations, you may not need Elevar. Sonar doesn't send to GA4, affiliate networks or BigQuery, and it doesn't give you a data layer for Google Tag Manager.
Can I use Elevar and Triple Whale together?
Yes. Let one tool send the standard events, such as Purchase, to each ad platform. Triple Whale's guide says that for Meta you can keep Sonar's standard events off and use attribution passback only, which runs alongside another Conversions API provider.
Which is cheaper, Elevar or Triple Whale?
At entry level they're close: Elevar Core is $225 a month and Triple Whale Foundation starts at $219. They diverge as you grow. Elevar rises with orders and destinations, while Triple Whale rises with your GMV band on a 12-month term. Elevar's Base plan is free to 100 orders, and Triple Whale's Free plan has first-click and last-click attribution.
Does Triple Whale send server-side events to Meta?
Yes. Sonar Optimize sends enriched events to Meta's Conversions API with a deduplication key, and it's included in every paid plan. It can also pass Triple Whale's attribution back to Meta as Custom Attribution.
Which do I need first?
If your ad platforms are missing sales or your Klaviyo flows miss shoppers, start with tracking. If your data looks complete but you can't decide where to spend, start with attribution. Either way, decide which tool will send standard events to Meta before you add the second.
